Dear delegates:  

Welcome to the Security Council of the UN Model CCHMUN. We, as your Committee presidents: Federico Echeverri and Mateo Giraldo, hope you find in this experience a truly valuable one, where you can develop your abilities not only as delegates who represent their roles adequately but as citizens of the world, that use the tools you gain from being in these type of models so you can be more critic, fair, ethical and worldly.  

This Committee’s purpose is to ensure global peace and security, solving economic, political, social, cultural conflicts so there’s assertive communication within all nations. Delegates must be diplomatic and respectful for this Committee to work according to its purpose.  

As your presidents, we hope you enter this model and Committee with a positive attitude, compromised to making this a space of knowledge and regarding it as an opportunity to insert yourselves in critical situations where your conflict solving capacities need to come out. In a more informal note, while it is truly fun to keep debating and arguing for no reason whatsoever, like we all tend to do in the models, keep in mind the first motive is to solve conflicts through dialogue. Do not take the model, however, as a strict procedure that needs to be followed verbatim, have fun with it and regard it as an enriching experience for your lives.
